SHA AND THE SHOW SEASON

Every year the SHA attends agricultural shows and other events around the county. The aim of attending these shows is four fold:

• to publicise the SHA itself
  
• to recruit new members to the SHA
  
• to sell SHA members produce and
  
• to provide a social event where members can meet informally.
  
  The cost of the pitch is usually covered by the commission taken by the SHA on sales of members’ produce.
  
  How to get involved
  
• Contact Simon Gibbard ASAP to book your space and car pass/ entrance pass. It is almost impossible to get extra passes after the pitch has been booked and definitely impossible to wheedle your way round the stewards on the day.
  
• There is no designated SHA show team. If the show is being held in your area please contact me to get your pass and then just come along. You might have to help put up the marquee or make the tea but you will have a good time.
  
• If you want to sell produce but can’t attend then it is ok to send it with someone who is going, but the commission is slightly higher.
  
• All produce must be labeled according to current legislation – if you are not sure what that is, come to the January meeting where Lesley Stimpson will be going through it with us - regrettably this meeting was cancelled due to the wintry weather but we hope lesley will be able to reschedule this talk at a more clement time.
  
• If there is a show you think SHA should attend please let me know. I will need the date, location and contact details of the show organisers.

Please remember though that by the time the advertising appears many show entries are closed – if you went to it last year let us know quickly and I will do my best to get us there.
